Good Neighbours: Once a month, on a Sunday morning, we come together to lend a practical hand to neighbours. A spot of gardening for older residents, painting and decorating for those without the know-how, or clearing up local eye-sores. After a morning of hard work we get together for a shared meal and a reflection.Sunday Brunch Church: On Sundays we get together for an informal 'church' gathering. Beginning at 10:30am we have some breakfast followed at 11am with some prayer, Bible reflection and discussion as well as general conversation about life, God, our Stepney community and how to change the world!
Smarties Club: Every Tuesday at 4.30pm during term-time, children (aged 5-12) meet together for our Smarties after-school club. High-energy games, musical expression, story-telling and creative crafts combine to teach basic Christian principles and moral values that help children to live 'smart' lives. Most of all we have fun together!
Smarties Football Club: The Smarties fooball club is for boys and girls aged 7-11. We meet on Tuesdays (during term time) from 3.20pm in Stepney Green Park for an hour long session with a qualified football coach. We do training, play games and have a lot of fun. Community Football: Pretty much every Monday, barring Christmas Day and the odd holiday, some of us are out there kicking a ball about. You'd think that we might be good after all this practice, but on the whole we're pretty ropey. You'll find us at Mile End Stadium, pitch number 10 every Monday between 8-9pm.
Community organising: We are proud members of the east London branch of London Citizens - The East London Communities Organisation (TELCO). Together with over one hundred diverse organisations across London we have been working for change and justice for Londoners - involved in successful campaigns on wages, housing, safer streets and immigration. Baby Song: Parents/carers of 0-3 year olds are invited to spend some time deepening the physical, emotional and spiritual bonds through music, song and movement. This weekly activity brings parents and carers together to get to know one another better.
Whitechapel Genesis FC: We are a founding member of a football team with members from Booth House Salvation Army Lifehouse and Whitechapel Mission. We play a number of tournaments over the year. The project aims to support those dealing with homelessness and addiction.
Opening Doors: Opening Doors is a friendship group offering parents of Sir William Burrough School the opportunity to get to know each other better and to meet people from different cultures and backgrounds. Each Friday morning we meet in each other's homes for a drink and a chat.
Housegroup: Each Thursday evening a group meets in a home for a couple of hours to deepen our knowledge and experience of how to follow Jesus. We discuss and reflect together as well as encourage and pray for each other, our community and the world and consider how our lives can best serve God and those around us.
Gospel Choir Workshop: Once a year, in partnership with Departure Arts Centre, we facilitate a Gospel Choir workshop. The workshop takes place over 10 weekly 2 hour sessions from 7-9pm. Participants need no previous experience, as it's for beginners and seasoned singers alike. The only requirement is a willingness to join in and have fun!Summer Camping Trip: Each year we head out of London with a number of tents for the August Bank Holiday. We always have a really good time and know each other a lot better by the time we come back!
