Drug action forum
Please join us for a planning meeting at 7pm on Friday 28th March at the Arbour Youth Centre, 100 Shandy Street Stepney. Our aim is to gather together residents of Stepney, and in particular the Ocean Estate, to begin a discussion about drug-related issues in our community and how we can work together to become effective agents of change. We hope to see you there...

Happy Easter!
Easter 2008 will be remembered for a number of things: how early it was, that it was a White Easter with flurries of snow falling over Stepney on Easter Day, that we managed to cram 22 people into one lounge to mark Jesus' last supper and although we expected less people there was still plenty of food to go round, and finally for a fun party on Easter Day as we celebrated that Jesus lives on forever. Below are some photos of what we got up to...

Gospel Choir Concert
Last night the Gospel Choir Workshop culminated in a concert after only 9 weeks of participants being together. And it sounded really good! Take a look at the video below for evidence...
Thanks to all who took part and those who supported the concert. We hope to run the workshop again some time later in the year.

The coming week
Next week is looking pretty busy for us, with a number of activities taking place. Actually, in the Christian faith this coming week, known as Holy Week, helps us to remember the most dramatic part of Jesus' story - his last days, execution and then his return from death.
On Tuesday 18th the Gospel Choir workshop has its final evening concert at Departure - starts at 7:30pm.
On Thursday 20th we will be joining together for an evening meal to mark the last meal Jesus ate with his friends.
On Easter Day - Sunday 23rd - we're holding an Easter Day party at St Benet's Chaplaincy, Mile End Road from 2-4pm.
Please join us or feel free to email for further details.

Departure
If you haven't already - you really must check out Departure Arts Centre on Commercial Roard. We love taking friends there for coffee in the relaxed cafe. Food is organic and halal with vegetarian options. It's becoming one of hope:asha's favourite haunts with the gospel choir workshop and Jason and Jojo's wedding taking place there...

Family breakfast
Sunday's 'Mother's Day Breakfast' felt just like a big family getting together. There were children aged four up to adults in their 90s and everything in between. The sun streamed through the windows and the food was excellent thanks to Ken and Carl in the kitchen. This is community life at its best - people just enjoying being with one another and having a good time and eating tasty food. Further photos can be seen here - you may like to check out the evidence of the boys in the kitchen! If Mother's Day is about anything it's about people looking after one another, whether that's a mother, sister, son, neighbour or friend. Ultimately, it's about God's care for us and the people he gives us to make our lives easier. And so we say thank you.
